Moli, 28, has had a rugged introduction to Perth's climate in pre-season work, with the Western Australian area suffering heatwaves this week.

But the five-Test Gisborne-born prop, a member of the All Blacks' 2019 Rugby World Cup team, is looking forward to putting the injury frustrations that have plagued his recent career behind him and starting from scratch.

He told Westernforce.rugby that it was humbling having played for the All Blacks and then succumbing to injuries.

Making a fresh start was boosted by the prospect of working with Force coach Simon Cron and from conversations with Force players.

"I was fortunate to play with Chase [Tiatia], Feleti [Kaitu'u] and Campbell [Parata] in New Zealand, got to know them and started to talk to them about the club.

"They were enjoying it, so I thought I'd come and give it a go. Crono is a bit of a character. I love what he's done with the Force and am glad I'm here to be part of it.

"It's also good to have a change of scenery and have a different environment. I spent eight years in Hamilton, so it's a good change for my family."

Cron said he was excited to have Moli's front-row flexibility by playing loosehead and tighthead roles. His experience and leadership potential would be good for the Force.

Moli, who played his school rugby for Marlborough Boys' College, was the captain of the world championship-winning New Zealand Under-20 side in 2015. He played 54 games for the Chiefs, 18 for Waikato and 14 for Tasman.

He said, "Everything that I've learned on the big stage, I'm keen to teach the young boys here. I hadn't really shown my leadership back in New Zealand, so I'm keen to do something about it here."
