Any adult ticket purchased on International Women’s Day (8 March) for the Sky Super Rugby Aupiki semi-final weekend, featuring the nib Blues at North Harbour Stadium (Sunday 19 March) will receive an additional adult ticket for free.
Blues GM of Operations, Sarah D’Audney, says it made sense to celebrate International Women’s Day with a show of support for the nib Blues.
“On a day that’s all about celebrating wāhine, we hope rugby fans around Tāmaki Makaurau and the wider Blues region will take advantage of this one-day offer – whether it’s your first time at a women’s rugby match, or you’re looking for your next rugby fix,” said D’Audney.
“Last week NZR released predictions that women and girls’ participation in rugby will grow by 40% on 2022’s figures. Super Rugby Aupiki plays a key role in showing what’s possible for young girls who dream of making rugby their career.
“Aupiki has already showcased the exciting, running brand of rugby that’s become synonymous with the women’s game so we hope the fans will vote with their feet for this semi-final weekend,” she said.
When the nib Blues Aupiki team faced off against the Chiefs Manawa last weekend, a crowd of over 2000 turned out to support the home side as they took on the reigning champions at North Harbour Stadium. Although Chiefs Manawa came out on top, nib Blues captain, Ruahei Demant, hopes to see that crowd grow for the semi-final weekend.
“Hearing a home crowd cheering for you is an unreal feeling. Seeing more and more people stay behind after our matches to get autographs or selfies is something we’ll never get used to,” said Demant.
“This is a new era of women’s rugby, and it’s awesome to see our people getting behind it. We’re calling on our fans to help maintain the momentum of women’s rugby and get a ticket to our semi-final match and bring your plus one along for free – they won’t be disappointed.”
**To take advantage of this offer – select the TOTAL number of adult tickets you want to receive. Every second adult ticket will be complimentary.
General Admission tickets are on sale from $15 (standard booking charges apply), with children under-16 free to attend all nib Blues home matches. Grandstand seating tickets are also available.

This year marks the first full season of Super Rugby Aupiki; the competition’s inaugural season was cut short last year due to COVID. All four teams will play off in the semi-finals to determine which teams will earn a spot in the ultimate showdown, with the bottom two playing off for third – both taking place on Saturday, 25 March.
