Ahead of the top-of-the-table DHL Super Rugby Pacific contest with the Hurricanes in Auckland on Saturday, Sotutu, the season's leading try scorer, said his decision was easy.
The Blues were a side he enjoyed playing with, and he loved representing the city.
Sotutu said a big focus for him in 2024 was to achieve consistency in his game and put together back-to-back performances.
"I feel like I've been doing that. So, hopefully, I can keep on that and we get to a final."
He said the Blues were looking forward to the rematch after losing to the Hurricanes earlier in the season.
"They are in pretty good form at the moment."
The loose forwards clash is always one of the critical areas in games. With the form of both units this year, Sotutu said he and his partners Dalton Papali'i and Akira Ioane were looking forward to the contest with Brayden Iose, Peter Lakai and Brad Shields.
Sotutu said regaining an All Blacks spot was always in the back of his mind, but for the moment, he was attempting to control what he could.
He said his father, former Blues player Waisake Sotutu, had been keen on Hoskins challenging himself around his mindset and other aspects of his game going into each week's game.
His parents were also pleased that he had decided to stay with the team for at least another two seasons.
